Real Results
I reached out to Nicole at Morning Sage Wellness in the middle of a large training block for a huge endurance event where I was experiencing poor sleep, fatigue, and a lack of recovery between sessions.
She quickly determined that I was under fueling and came up with a detailed plan of macro nutrients to support my level of effort…I’ve noticed an increase in energy, much better body composition and some healthy weight loss. Additionally my sleep and digestion are finally stable.after years of discomfort.

You’re training, getting outside, and making time for the activities you love. But when it comes to nutrition, it can be hard to know if you’re doing the right things to support your body.
Maybe you’re feeling depleted during longer workouts, struggling to recover between sessions, or wondering if you’re eating enough to meet your needs.
Maybe you’re preparing for a race and trying to make sense of all the advice about carbs, gels, electrolytes, and supplements. Or maybe you’re not training for a specific event at all. You simply want to feel stronger, have more energy, and get more out of your active lifestyle.
There’s no shortage of nutrition advice out there. But what works for the elite athlete training down the road may not be what your body needs.
You don’t need another one-size-fits-all fueling plan. You need clarity, confidence, and a nutrition strategy that works for you.
You’re Putting in the Work. Is Your Nutrition Keeping Up?
Sports nutrition is about more than protein shakes, energy gels, and hitting a certain number of carbs.
It’s about understanding how to nourish your body so you can perform, recover, and feel your best.
Imagine What Could Change
Imagine heading into a long run, ride, or day on the mountain feeling confident that you’ve fueled well.
Imagine having the energy to keep going, recovering well enough to enjoy your next workout, and understanding how to adjust your nutrition as your training changes.
Imagine knowing what to eat before, during, and after activities without getting overwhelmed by every new product or trend.
You could:
Feel more energized during workouts and throughout your day.
Support recovery and feel ready for your next adventure.
Fuel longer activities with less guesswork.
Build strength and support your body's changing needs.
Feel confident choosing foods and products that work for you.
Spend less time worrying about nutrition and more time doing what you love.
Whether your goal is to finish your first race, improve your performance, take on a big adventure, or simply feel better in your active life, nutrition can be a powerful part of the picture.

You might be preparing for your first 5K, training for a 50K ultramarathon, or simply wanting to feel better during your regular workouts.
Your goals and activity level determine your nutrition needs, not your competition level.
-
Sports nutrition can help you meet your energy needs, develop effective fueling strategies, support muscle recovery, and identify nutrition habits that may be limiting your progress.
Personalized guidance can also help you understand carbohydrate and protein needs, hydration and electrolyte requirements, and how to fuel before, during, and after exercise.
The goal is to find practical strategies that support your body and the demands of your activity.
-
Not at all! Many people I work with simply want to feel better and get more out of their everyday activities.
You might ski several days a week, hike on weekends, lift weights, or enjoy cycling and running without having a specific event on the calendar.
Sports nutrition can support energy, strength, recovery, and overall health even when you're not training for a competition.
-
Nutrition changes take time to put into practice and evaluate.
A three-month program gives us the opportunity to understand your current habits, develop an individualized plan, see how your body responds, and make adjustments based on your progress.
Rather than giving you a generic fueling plan in one appointment, we'll work together over time to build strategies that fit your body, activity level, and goals.
-
I do not, which allows me to provide longer visits so you know you’ll really be listened to and heard.
This also allows me to spend more time between appointments refining your plan, and making adjustments based on how your body responds.
-
Twelve weeks is a great starting point for working on your race nutrition.
We can evaluate your current fueling habits, estimate your energy and carbohydrate needs, develop hydration and fueling strategies, and practice those strategies during training. We'll also consider recovery and everyday nutrition.
Starting 3 months before race day gives you time to experiment and make adjustments rather than trying something new for the first time during an event.
-
That's one of the reasons personalized nutrition guidance can be helpful.
There are countless recommendations about energy gels, electrolyte powders, protein supplements, carbohydrate loading, and other performance products.
What works for one athlete may not work for another. We'll look at the science, your individual needs, and your preferences to determine what is actually useful for you.
You don't need to buy every new product or follow every trend to support your performance.
-
Your first appointment is a comprehensive nutrition deep dive.
We'll discuss your health history, activity level, training schedule, goals, current eating habits, and any challenges you're experiencing with energy, fueling, digestion, or recovery.
We'll also review relevant previous lab work and testing. Together, we'll identify priorities and begin developing a personalized nutrition strategy with practical steps you can start implementing right away.
-
As a functional nutritionist and lifelong athlete you’ll get someone who knows both the science-backed recommendations and what it feels like to implement them in real life.
I want to understand your goals, your lifestyle, and what is realistic for you before making recommendations.
We'll look beyond basic calorie and macro targets to consider your overall health, activity level, recovery, and nutritional needs.
You'll have regular appointments, online progress check-ins, and access to me between appointments so we can address questions and make adjustments as you put your plan into practice.
-
Rather than handing you a rigid meal plan, I focus on helping you understand your nutritional needs and develop practical eating strategies you can use in everyday life and around training.
This may include meal and snack ideas, pre- and post-workout nutrition, fueling schedules for longer activities, and guidance on carbohydrate, protein, and overall energy intake.
Recommendations are tailored to your preferences, schedule, and goals.
-
Yes! We can develop an individualized fueling and hydration strategy for longer training sessions and endurance events.
This may include carbohydrate intake during activity, fluid and electrolyte needs, timing and frequency of fueling, and choosing products or foods that work for your preferences and digestive tolerance.
We'll also discuss how to practice your strategy during training so you feel more prepared on event day.
-
Yes. I can help you evaluate whether supplements may be appropriate for your goals and nutritional needs.
We'll consider the evidence, potential benefits and limitations, safety, quality, and whether a supplement is actually necessary.
My goal is to help you make informed decisions rather than spend money on products you may not need.
-
I offer in-person functional nutrition appointments in Salida, Colorado, as well as virtual nutrition consultations for clients who prefer to meet remotely.
